Longlining Lessons - £30/hr plus 45p per mile each way

Longlining is extremely beneficial for your horse and a great alternative to lungeing.

Longlining or long reining as it's sometime called is the use of two lines rather than the one which is used for lungeing.  A saddle or roller can be used, I tend to use a saddle with the stirrup irons tied together with a stirrup leather.  The lines then feed from the Dually or bridle through the stirrup irons to your hands.

With longlining you have more control of your horses speed and direction and your body language is less confusing to the horse than that of lungeing.

Some benefits of longlining:

*To introduce young horses to steering, stopping and becoming soft in the aids.

  *Developing muscle/topline and balance

*Introducing horses to jumping and allowing your horse to find their own rythm
and balance before contending with a rider.  It is also useful for the rider to
   watch how they jump!

  *Rehabilitation from injury

*An alternative to schooling/hacking - easy to do if you are limited for time and
a nice change for the horse

*Settling the exhuberant horse before you ride or exercising a child's pony.

*Spookbusting - confidently introduce your horse to scary objects from the
    ground rather than ridden.

What to expect from your longlining lesson

We will establish your key goals and work towards them

You will have one-to-one tuition:

How to put on the longlines
Positioning
How to influence your horse through your body language
How raising and lowering your energy has a direct influence on your horse

By the end of your session I am confident that you will get 'the bug' and love longlining as much as me!

Show how longlining is great for introducing horses to new things such as jumping

Give you a demonstration on how the Pessoa Training aid works and how to build muscle and balance with longlining
